There's a chance your next job interview could be via WebEx or a similar tool. That means you'll be participating in an online video conference where the folks screening you, may not meet you in person until you walk in the door. Your first, last and final impression will be via web cam.
That can be really scary for some people.
But we are here to offer you reassurance. This doesn't have to be hard or scary. It's different but in some ways, it might even be better. All you need to do is be prepared and like any interview, put your best foot forward.

In addition to their tips about dressing for the interview and preparing the setting, they share a few great tips that are exclusive to the online experience. We agree with everything they say and have a few more of our own:
1. Make sure you have the meeting link. We recommend pasting it into your calendar and making sure you have a copy on your mobile phone. If something should happen and you can't get to your computer, you can join a WebEx using the free mobile app.
2. Before you join, turn off all other applications you are running on your desktop. It's likely you won't have to share anything from your computer, but just in case you do, you don't want anything embarrassing to pop up during that time. Especially email, chat or instant messages. Also, close open tabs on your browser that aren't associated with your meeting.
3. Remember to pause. Video conferences are like telephone conferences - you need to allow a second for others to interject or ask questions. So even though you are talking about your experience and interests, make sure to pause occasionally so the interviewer can comment. This will create a more relaxed, conversational experience.

Practice answering interview questions and practice your responses to the typical job interview questions and answers most employers ask. Think of actual examples you can use to describe your skills. Providing evidence of your successes is a great way to promote your candidacy.

One more tip: to assist with eye contact, look at the camera, not the screen! It makes a HUGE difference on the other end.
