You don't have to start a WebEx with the "default" screen. In fact, you are are smart, you can take just a few minutes and create a personalized experience that can set the tone for your meeting or event.
Here are two quick tips!
Use the white board feature to add a personal message.
I happened to jump on a WebEx with someone I had never met before and she unexpectedly got called away for a minute. She had done everything right: logged in a few minutes early as the host, was ready to meet, but she knew I would be joining and didn't want to make a bad first impression.
Instead she left me a quick note on the white board (from inside the meeting go to Share>Whiteboard). I loved it - of course I understood, I appreciated the freindly note and I could do a few more emails knowing I didn't need to sit there unsure what to do!
In the example above, you can see it's also a great way to set expectations, get people aligned and hopefully get your meeting off to a faster, smoother start.
Share a document (aka photo) to set the mood.
Same concept but this requires a little more effort. In this case, you'll want to find an image that really aligns with the emotion you want to elicit. You can use the annotation tools to add words to the image. Cross marketing to other resources is a great way to use the "idle time" while your guests wait for the meeting to start.
One thing to note, if the image is really large (think pixels) the text size will reduce in scale. So use an image that's not too big. You might want to experiment a bit. To import the image go to Share>Document.
Both these features are available on the WebEx beta that you can get absolutely free. With it, you can meet with up to four people so it's a cool way to try meeting online and expressing your personal style!
