Plan For The Little Disruptions -- Part 2/4
Collaborations tools like WebEx are not only great to meet with anybody anywhere; without having to leave the office but also, in the case where employees can't come into the office because of small disruptions, to meet with anybody anywhere without having to come into the office. As such, unified collaboration tools are a great first step in putting a business continuity plan in place and ensuring that your company can deal with the next disruption.
In order to best prepare your employees for these small disruptions, I believe it is important to introduce an active telework policy and document clearly what is expected from your employees when they telework and how you as the employer will support them when they telework. There are many business benefits to having an active telework policy. The three main benefits I see are:
1. Good for the bottom line -- Telework gives companies cost savings due to increased employee productivity and reduced office overhead
2. Good for employees -- Telework offers employees a better quality of life, which in turn allows companies to attract and retain high quality and hard sought after employees.
3. Good for the environment -- Telework helps companies in their efforts in becoming carbon neutral by reducing the number of commuter miles driven and as such eliminating CO2 emissions.
You can learn more about these benefits and the small business disruptions they help you deal with by listening to the following podcast.
